There has been a link between Carlisle Road and Hungary since 2000 when a young Hungarian student for the ministry contacted the Church via this website. Our Secretary, David Burke has been in regular contact with Erik Darvas-Tanács by email and our congregation has been involved in providing some financial support for the Hungarian Reformed Church. In May 2002 David spent a week with Erik and his wife Eszter at Alcsúti Református Egyház (Manse at Alcsútdoboz), a village of approximately 1000 people about 40 kilometres from Budapest. The congregation and friends in Londonderry had contributed a sum of money for the provision of Children's Summer Camps for the kids of Alcsút, Vértesacsa and Vértesdoboz. Erik and Eszter are Ministers of these three congregations and they have a particular interest in the evangelisation of children. UPDATE The following year David and his wife Dorothy again visisted Alcsút. In 2006, Erik moved to a new congregation at Ercsi, a small town (population approx. 8,000) south of Budapest and on the banks of the Danube. In 2007 David and Dorothy visited Erik & Eszter and their children (son Illés and daughter Hanna). With the birth of their third daughter in March 2009, the Darvas-Tanács family now have 4 children (Illés, Hanna, Ajsa & Sára).
